Foothills Regional High School is proud to announce the addition of two experienced educational leaders to its team, welcoming Ms. Sandra Moore as co-site director at Jasper Foothills and Mr. Shannon Jarvis as co-site director at Elbert Foothills.
Both leaders bring decades of educational experience, strong ties to their local communities, and a shared commitment to supporting students and helping them reach graduation and future success.
Ms. Moore joins the Jasper Foothills site following a distinguished career in education that spanned several decades. A native of Monticello, Ms. Moore earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Georgia College & State University and began her teaching career at Baldwin County High School.
After earning her Master of Education, Ms. Moore returned to her hometown to teach science at Jasper County High School. After approximately 20 years in the classroom, she earned her Specialist in Educational Leadership and transitioned into school leadership. She served as assistant principal at Jasper County High School for seven years before retiring in 2021.
“Throughout her career, Ms. Moore has built lasting relationships with students, staff, and families while making a meaningful impact on the school community,” said Area Four Director Thaddeus Dixon. “As co-site director, she will continue her commitment to supporting students and serving the Jasper community through her work at Foothills. We are fortunate to have her on our team.”
A proud Elbert County native, Mr. Jarvis returned to his home community in 2020 after nearly three decades working in education and athletics. He initially returned as head football coach before transitioning into district leadership.
Prior to returning home, Mr. Jarvis spent most of his career in Gwinnett County Public Schools, where he served in numerous leadership roles at Mill Creek High School, including mathematics instructional coach, athletic director, assistant principal, and head football coach.
His broad experience in academics, athletics, and administration has helped shape his leadership approach, which is focused on relationships, student growth, and the school community.
Mr. Jarvis holds a Specialist in Education in Coaching Pedagogy from Valdosta State University, a Master’s degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Piedmont College, and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Georgia.
“Mr. Jarvis brings tremendous experience, leadership, and passion for supporting students,” said Area One Director Kelly Akin. “We are excited to welcome him to the Foothills team and look forward to the positive impact he will have on our students and staff.”
As co-site director at Elbert Foothills, Mr. Shannon Jarvis will support Foothills students in a part-time leadership role while continuing to serve as assistant superintendent for the Elbert County School District.
