DOE staff at Butts County Foothills SIte

Foothills Regional High School recently welcomed leaders from the Georgia Department of Education and Southern Crescent Technical College to its Butts Site, highlighting the impact of Georgia’s special completion schools and the power of strong partnerships.

Georgia Department of Education Chief of Staff Christy Todd, Completion School Support Specialist Chris Huckans, and Dr. Drew Todd, Interim Vice President of Student Affairs at Southern Crescent Technical College, visited the site to learn more about Foothills’ approach to supporting students on a non-traditional path to graduation.

During the visit, Foothills staff and leadership showcased the school’s model, engaged in meaningful conversations about expanding and strengthening completion school supports across the state, and provided a firsthand look at students actively working toward their diplomas.

The visit also highlighted Foothills’ growing partnership with Southern Crescent Technical College and other technical college partners, which is expanding Accelerated Career Diploma opportunities. These pathways allow students to earn their high school diploma while gaining valuable technical college credentials, creating additional opportunities to graduate with momentum and a clear next step.

Foothills serves students who need a different path to graduation, offering flexible scheduling, personalized support, and strong connections to college and career opportunities. Through continued collaboration with state and community partners, Foothills remains committed to expanding access and ensuring every student has the opportunity to succeed.
