Accreditation
Accreditation is a voluntary method of quality assurance developed more than 100 years ago by American universities and secondary schools and designed primarily to distinguish schools adhering to a set of educational standards. Today, the accreditation process is used at all levels of education and is recognized for its ability to drive student performance and effective continuous improvement in education.
Foothills Regional High School is fully accredited by the Georgia Accrediting Commission and Cognia as a K-12 public school.
Georgia Accrediting Commission
The Georgia Accrediting Commission has provided and continues to provide leadership for education in Georgia. The accrediting process stimulates local schools and school districts to provide better and safer physical facilities and improve staff members' qualifications, teaching conditions, and curriculum. It also provides a valid means of judging the quality of schools. As a result, the academic credits of students who transfer between accredited schools can be accepted without special examination. Accreditation by the Georgia Accrediting Commission has always been a way of recognizing schools with good educational programs. Its standards continue to guide those who want to develop good programs.

Cognia
All education institutions share a fundamental goal: to inspire and equip learners to succeed to their highest potential. The current research-based standards acknowledge commonality is achieved through one set of standards. They define the practices of a good education institution and provide the criteria for improvement efforts that will energetically and visibly grow learners, teachers, leaders, and organizations in any K–12 or postsecondary non-degree-granting setting.
Accreditation is the launchpad for school improvement. Based on rigorous research-based standards and evidence-based criteria, the process probes the whole institution—from policies to learning conditions and cultural context—to determine how well the parts work together to meet the needs of every learner.
Accreditation isn't about passing a one-time inspection—it helps education providers meet improvement goals and sustain commitments to better learner outcomes.
